Hi, I'm 19 years old and majoring in sign language. I have a paper coming up, but, the problem is, I don't know what I should do it on! I'm allowed to do it on anything dealing with the deaf culture, which is so vage.

But I have some questions:
Has a hearing person told you, you can't do something? If so, what was it about?

What's the most difficult thing you've had to do?

Do some hearing people try to avoid you?

I have a sister with some hearing loss (75%), But I want everyones opoion.
Thanks!!

:welcome: to AD! Hope u enjoy your stay here.

I had a VR counselor told me that I couldnt become a successful interior designer due to my deafness.

The most difficult thing I had to do was to try to read everyone's lips in a large group of hearing people using spoken language.

Oh yea, I have had hearing people try to avoid me and they make it so obvious. It used to hurt me but now I am like who cares? My life is too busy to bother with them.

Hey, thanks Shel!!
Some people can just be out there, right?
And I think its great that you don't care
what others think/do. Thanks for your
info!!

Hi, Tracy!

Has a hearing person told you, you can't do something? If so, what was it about? College - a lot. Major in Biology. Drive a car. Play basketball - they are right - I can't. :D

What's the most difficult thing you've had to do? College. I loved my old school and teachers.

Do some hearing people try to avoid you? No. I never thought it before. I hope not. Usually too many hearing people try to talk to me, not avoid me I think- no problem with hearing people but it is hard to understand more than 1 person talking.
