You're in a huge job interview. This interview is a job you have always wanted. It also has big potential for you to advance. Your spouse knows of this and is very excited for you.

In the middle of the interview, you get a phone call from the spouse. What do you do?

Eh...don't answer?

ahhhh cell phone, nope. I forgot to add the detail that the secretary came in and informed you that the spouse called.

Ah that would be different! I would explain that it must be emergency and I was very very sorry. And I must take call and again apoligize.
It would show that you were responsible and caring person. And in certain situtations you know were your prioroties lie. They may understand asuming theyare human!

please forgive my dreadful spelling

Handle it

So you check the phone quickly give a look to the interviewer, say,"wife".
Answer, "everything OK? I am in the interview."
She says, either "Oops". Or,
"I am in an accident scene the car is totalled and the EMTs are loading me into the ambulance"
You say, "Bye" or go into crisis mode.
If it was me I would turn off the cell phone after the "Oops", "Bye" scenario,
and make a short oops to the interviewer while I was doing it.
Shit happens. Move on briskly.
Make a permanent mental note to never have the cell phone on at a job interview and then drop the whole thing cause anything after that is just negative and toxic.

I doubt the spouse would take the time to find the contact information for the office unless it was a dire emergency. I would simply explain to the interviewer that it must be an emergency and excuse myself.
