Hello,
I've suffered from tinnitus for the past few years, I have recently started experiencing dizziness spells. Has anyone else that is deaf had tinnitus? I wear hearing aids in both ears.
Many thanks for the advice

I think you'll find that most of us deaf people have some degree of tinnitus. Mine is constant and annoying at times, other times I can ignore it. Haven't had any dizziness.

Yes I have tinnitus. Also dizziness and balance problems due to cranial nerve damage.

It is fairly common among deaf people.

Yes I have it too. Constant, loud, crazy, 24/7. Sounds like firecrackers, loud roar, unknown music etc. Definnitely prevents a good nights sleep. I do get dizzy at times, get up slow, don't bend down too fast. Just something you have to learn to deal with I guess.

That is what I do , I tried to do something to keep my mind of it. When I first got tinnitus I kept asking my daughter and ex what is that noise and they could not hear it. I went outside and I could still hear it and then I realize I had tinnitus . It was horrible at first and over the years I try to block it out .

But you can have vertigo with out tinnitus so do all people that have tinnitus have vertigo as well.

Many people suffer greatly from vertigo. Others suffer from severe tinnitus. Some suffer from both. You can have completely normal hearing and still suffer from both. I am completely deaf, zero hearing remaining, yet I suffer from severe tinnitus

Speaking of tinnitus of various kinds, I guess my favorite is music, a choir singing, Gregorian chant etc. I don't know how many times I've checked the house over to find the radio or whatever is playing that music. Another perplexing sort is hearing a gathering of people all talking at the same time as in a party of some sort. I've got up to look outside to see if there is a group out there, nope, nobody around! that kind of tinnitus amuses me.

There are a few other threads here in the forum about tinnitus. You might find some helpful tips in those threads (and this one too.)

I find when I have tinnitus (mine is not consistent, it comes and goes), drowning it out with music is helpful for me.

At first I would download this app called white noise and it will help at night because it's really bad at night trying to sleep with the ringing but now that I can barely hear any more the white noise does not help since I can't hear it.

Ok was just wondering. My dizziness gets so bad I have fallen over a few times is that something to worry about.

I had a client that had vertigo and she had to use a walker b/c she was falling so much . You could think of getting a walker too , it can help some .
I had vertigo and was vomiting from it , I got it after my car was T boned and I was knocked out cold.

I just try and catch myself and sit down. It's a little scare cause I have gotten dizzy spells while driving which I try not to do as much.

I did not drive when I had vertigo , it was too risky I got very dizzy . It felt like the whole room was turning upside down , I did not want that to happen while driving .

I haven't need driving lately unless I really have to. I remember when it first started happening my platoon sergeant would make me drive for like 2-3 hours and I would just be terrified.
