I'm not a senior yet. I'm a junior in high school. but I'm starting to think about colleges since I'm going to be graduating in a year. and I'm thinking about 3 universities: wright state university, Miami university, and of course: galluadet university. I have a few questions about gallaudet..

1) what kind of GPA do you need to be elgible to get in to galluadet??
2) is it a bad neighborhood to be in?
3) what are the financal costs?
4) do they have a course in graphic design and/ or photography?
5) do the students have their own little "chlique?" I heard that some deaf with cochlear would not like them.
6) what are some good/ bad things about galluadet??

I'm trying to figure out what colleges I want to go to. but your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Really, there are cliques everywhere.

I can't say because I have not attended nor experienced Gally life. Ask Gally alumnaes here... Some of them are AD members, so they can able to answer your question.

It is Gallaudet, not Galluadet so you don't get sent somewhere else,

I was a little worried about not being able to get into universities because i have a GPA of 2.54 (at least thats what i think i have, i tried calculating my gpa, but wasn't sure if i did it right.) I am interested in Gally. My dad told me that Gally is located in a bad neighboorhood.

wright state university, Miami university
Do they have a strong dhh population? One thing I wish I'd known about college is that unless there's a strong dhh population, the services from disabilty services are very crappy!
and of course: galluadet university. I have a few questions about gallaudet..

One suggestion.... if your GPA isn't AWESOME you could argue that you didn't do as well as you could have, b/c you didn't get the advantage of a school with a high school dhh program.

4) do they have a course in graphic design and/ or photography?
You could also look at NTID too!
5) do the students have their own little "chlique?" I heard that some deaf with cochlear would not like them.
Are you asking if Gally students are cliquey towards CI students? You could call them and ask. I do think attitudes towards CI students have changed a lot. Many kids in your generation have them. As long as you're accepting of ASL and don't act like you're "better" then students who went to Deaf Schools or may not have good oral abilty, and are somewhat familiar with Deaf Culture (and I asssume you are since you went to St. Rita's) you'll be accepted. Gally had a booth at the Clarke Mainstream conference (VERY oral since it was sponsored by AG BAD)

bad neighbourhood.
Sometimes
but more safer as it is today;
train station is accessible and very close to gally so easy transportation.

i did go to St.Rita's but i only was there for one semester. Which is half of my 4th grade year. But I left because it was way to far from my home. So i went back to Centerville City Schools. They do have some deaf people there but not a whole lot. my intepreter told me that they only use FM systems and no interpreters really. They're very oral, no sign language but do have a hearing aid or a CI. As for Wright State and Miami University, I'm not sure about their dhh program. My deaf guy friend goes to Wright state. They are a pretty good school to go to. I was always really interested in Wright state growing up, but then i became interested in Gallaudet University as well. I just wanted to see what kind of GPA you would need to get into Gallaudet. Because right now i'm trying to pull my grades up. Chemistry is one of the classes i've been having the most struggle with. All of my other classes have pretty good grades.

Paging jillo.......she is prolly very familiar with the colleges in Ohio and might be able to give you advice!
And that's sad you weren't able to continue at St. Rita's....oh well at least you had a semester there!
