Attention AIM user, they have release the new AIM software Version 7. Right now it's still in the beta. Man I have to say it's hot. The interface had changed.

Here's the change log:

* New look and feel! We've got a redesigned user interface that we think you'll love.
* Better performance. We've been under the hood tweaking the software to make it run faster and use less of your PC's resources.
* Bigger buddy icons! What's not to love about that?
* Buddy icon cropper. Click on your icon near the top of your buddy list and you can pick a picture off of your PC and zoom in on your face for a great buddy icon.
* Big status entry area. We make it really easy to see your current status message. Also, when you change from online to away we'll put your cursor in the status message so you can tell people what you're up to.
* New advertisement size and placement. We think the new ad fits better in the buddy list and hope you agree.

Why wait? Download it now.

I just downloaded AIM 7.0. It is alright - it is a somewhat like ICQ 6x.

AIM has been taken over by ICQ in India which has for several years now.

im usually AIM lots but i love it to changes new one than old one!!

I just installed updated AIM last night. that s nice! Thank you, Nathan. :ty:

I have download it and tried it, it's alot better and faster than AIM 6.9 and looks more simple, there's no crashes or other issues, it's probably minor bugs.

AIM has changed the logo back to classic with yellow human like in 1997 until 2006.

Before it was red bubble with AIM.

Remember those AOL pop-up which will crash your PC with BSOD. Now it seem they removed it. And yes the logo had changed and is much faster than ever before. But expect it to have bugs since it's in the beta stage.

I never got crashed with BSOD from AIM and it's depends on computer that are you using, I have alot of problem with AIM 6.9 that crashed and shut down so unexpectly but OS still run so fine then I uninstalled it and return to AIM 5.9, that's far more stable than AIM 6.9.

For ads or pop-up, I know how to kill the ads and pop-up on AIM 6 and you need change the code via notepad.

No, no, it not me. It's those people who said they got BSOD from "Active Update" pop-up. like this: Google Image Result for http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/attachments/aim-support/660-active-update-aol-core-services-software-update-aim-active-update-aol-core-serv.jpg
Anyway to stop the annoying pop-up I deleted the folder called "toaster"

I like old school aim, because you can send pictures into IM screen, and it looks simple. Newer aim versions come with too much informations including games, advertisements, etc. SMH!

Right... AIM 7 feels very mature. It is growing on me now. :o

It would be nice if we could get the option to turn the chat bubbles off.

Yes, downloaded it today, and bubble chat is bit annoying.

is it worth getting the new AIM?

If you want my aim address, please PM me, I'd love to talk to you guys on aim

Bubble chat is just like square box in IM that separated conversation on between you and others instead of traditional red and blue colored.

I got used with bubble chat that I use on Mac, such as iChat and Adium.

For example of bubble chat.

I thought it was other way around? Aim took over ICQ.

They did, but now it is a division of ICQ.

Check this out: ICQ Israel to develop AOL software - Israel Money, Ynetnews

Actually after reading your post: I now know I was right. AOL owns ICQ.

"In 1998, AOL spent over $400 million on the purchase of Mirabilis, the Israeli company that produced ICQ two years earlier. After the purchase, ICQ continued to run its international activities from Israel, as a subsidiary of AOL."

They are going to use ICQ division to design and write AIM programs.

"ICQ Israel will soon be responsible for the software development of AOL instant messenger, or AIM, following a recent decision by the company."

Also another thing to add: ICQ is in Israel, not India.

Those were taken from link you gave.
