Tech for the elderly

Hey!
Here's the bullet:
I can hear, my grandmother is almost deaf. We can barely communicate.
Has any one found an app that can remedy this communication gap?
I can envision a scenario where she can just click an icon and see text of what a person is saying.

There are a couple of apps that will do that- one is Verbatim- there's a thread here on AD that explains it (written by the creator). It is available for both android and iOS. I've seen a few others but can't remember what the names are right now.
