Hello,
This is my first post on Alldeaf.com! I wanted to ask a general question for all of the deaf people using this forum. I am a hearing high school senior and I am currently in a second year/ASL 2 course. My teacher is HOH but is not deaf. In my local deaf community I have heard some people say that they do not think that hearing or HOH people should teach ASL courses because it is not their first language. I, however, like my teacher very much and think she does a great job teaching this beautiful language. My question is: Is this feeling about non-deaf people teaching ASL the same in other deaf communities? What are your feelings on hearing or HOH people teaching ASL?
