Hey the surgeon assisstant called and left message said the surgery date is January 15th.... shoot! Because its after my beauty school start but my friend will call her and explained about school and see if she can move date back sooner if not then I have to postpone my school till march it sucks cuz I want go there badly but at least I'm getting it only ONE obstacle left to go (hearing test) till confirmation of my candidacy and force my insurance to pay (I looked up and found out they are required by ADA to pay if all test proved its medically necessary so I'm not worried about insurance) :)

I hope everything gets straightened out for you. At least, you are getting closer to your goal.

Actually, I think a couple of months of a break from when you have surgery/switch on to when you start beauty school might not be such a bad idea. I don't know what your other ear is like, but it can take a few weeks to get up and running again with the CI ear, to get to the point where you overtake where you were with hearing aids. Also it can be quite an overwhelming experience for some people, with a lot of mixed emotions and frustration and coupled with starting a new course might make it really overwhelming! So in some circumstances, people might appreciate the space of timing.

So if you were going to start beauty school in January, then ideally you'd want surgery in November or earlier to give yourself time. You could ask to be put on a cancelation list (by indicating a willingness to go to the hospital at very short notice) but I doubt they would move someone that was already scheduled in earlier and move you in their slot.

I agree with R2D2, give yourself a break to get use to the CI. I made a mistake of going back to work from bilateral surgery in 7 days. The activation date was the next day school started. I teach 5th grade. I was overwhelmed and, so over a month later, I am still tired.

I agree with R2D2 that it would be a good idea to postpone school until after you are activated. You will have numerous appointments and getting used to a CI takes time. It is also tiring. Starting school and getting used to a CI might be a bit much. Good Luck and Keep us posted.

yeah my boyfriend thought of same thing, hmm probably true so look like I'm having surgery on january 15th :) well hopefully still waiting for that last test hurry up woman! lol (my audiologist is waiting for my mold to arrive then do test) I will update what happened after hearing aid test of course should be somewhere this week

by the way thanks everybody for saying good luck :)

you had to get earmolds made for the hearing aid test? when they put a hearing aid on my left ear, they didn't need an earmold, they had an alternative that's temporary and replaceable... hm interesting.

Yea, the same for me. They used this "squeezee" like foam stuff to put in my ear for the test.

I concur with R2D2 too! I went back to work the next day and I thought I was going to have to quit because of the high shrilling sounds. I wish I had the time to take off to come accustomed to it. It will be here before you know it! :) Do you know when the mold is coming back? It usually takes a week no more.

yeah they did tried making me temporary mold my i have very very small ear canal it was almost exactly same size as the tubing itself so my audiologist torn it up trying fit it in there so i had to sent in mold to get it made
