We have been noticing some suicide posting and a discussion recently locked earlier today. Whether someone is seriously seeking suicide or just for attention seeker who really needs professional help...this suicide subject is no laughing matter for everyone.

AD is not a professional forum for counselor or psychiatric help. The suicide posting needs to stop, please seek your doctor who will refer you to mental health so they can evaluate you. I understand there is different reasons behind this such as depression, PTSD, etc. If this is just for attention seeker...please stop, this is not going to help you nor any ADers.

As for the discussion, not everyone is on the same page with the subject. This is a sticky subject such as assisted suicide becomes heated. This also is a depressing subject when it comes to discussions. I'd like to also note that neither were wrong or right but neither were going to change their minds either.

Thank you for understanding.

I would like to add something , if someone can't wait to talk to their doctor they should go to a hospital that has a Psych unit and check in at ER and tell them why you're there. If the person is underage I hope they're able to go to their parent for help first .

nobody can find the solution . even doctors . this is not a wild. you everyday live with humans who are healthy so you can't ignore it okay ? let us express our expressions
thanks

Well, I see you are new here and a teenager. Certainly everyone has a right to expression but you have no idea that this forum has history of death hoaxes and suicide threats. Death hoax is no laughing matter, we take this seriously.

Anyone who have suicidal thoughts needs to see his/her doctor for professional help. This forum is not a professional mental health... in person is the wise way to get their mental evaluation. This doesn't mean we can't ignore it, there's no way we can tell whether someone is being serious or attention seeker just to say those stuffs but not doing it... we tell them to seek professional help.

I absolutely agree about anyone having suicidal thoughts to immediately seek professional help and not to be alone.
I urge anyone to seek help at the very first symptoms of feeling depressed, having anxiety and unable to sleep well.
Please go to ER, please don't be alone. talk to someone, anyone. you CAN be helped. you WILL be helped.

The closed discussion, however, had nothing to do with suicide per se but euthanasia and right of choice.
It is much, much broader subject that pertains not only to mental disorders but also chronic pain, MS, ALS (Lou Gehrig disease)
and many others.
It was just a coincidence that a poster chose for a subject this particular woman in Holland. the subject was euthanasia.
It was totally unnecessary imo to close the thread. what was needed, simply straighten out eventual misunderstandings.

No. There have been other postings about suicide as well. Some from a specific poster. You may be behind on all of the postings recently. I believe it wasn't about that thread, specifically.

You don't have to seek hospital with psych unit, just got o ER and if needed you will be transferred to appropriate unit.
sadly, children often do not go to their parents for help - quite the opposite, parents are the last to know what's going on.

I see. I am sorry about that. I was unaware I inadvertently might have been adding to the problems. sorry.

I received a PM concerning about suicidal posting and thread.... It was necessary to close that thread and I had to address something by making this thread. I clearly pointed out in the OP "I'd like to also note that neither were wrong or right but neither were going to change their minds either."

"Right to Die" is one of few controversial topics of discussion.

Yeah that is why I hope a child is able to go to their parents , look at the guy that went for help and he was send home and end killing 2 people the next day.
If there a hospital close by that has a psych unit this would the best place to go for help .

There is no guarantee that mental hospital or psych ward will fix the problem because a lot of them relapsed and mental treatment didn't helped, also that why a lot of LGBT students, even transgender students committed suicide after painful bullying. I was one of them when I was teen so forced to change the school and change the family about how they treated.

Also veterans have a lot of issues too.

That's unfortunately true, still it's better to reach out than do nothing, or worse, give up.

I am very sorry for your difficult experiences. the way I see things a lot of these problems arise from two things
- religious background and poor education.
these two combined usually create most unwelcome, intolerant and un-accepting environment which indeed is not helping any.
Changing your environment for more educated and appreciative is first step to feel better and better life.
If you actively seek help, you'll do become stronger and happier in time.

That's true about the veterans part. The latest stats don't look good. But that's all I'm going to say here because this thread is not meant to be a discussion.

It's hard to tell if someone is really feeling suicidal or just trying to see how people will react to it , and if someone is suicidal we can't do anything to help that person . We can't call 911 b/c we don't know their name or address and this is very upsetting not knowing if the person is planning on doing something or just making a death hoax . If a person is suicidal they're wasting precious time posting about it here , they should be seeking help .
