I've seen alot of forums that bans using URLS and such for the next 15 posts or so. Your forum should be able to place restrictions on posting images and URLs for the next 15 posts or so to discourage spams and such.

Just an idea....

Yeah, that's good thinking. I would say rather 3-5 posts before they can post a link or picture or youtube.

That would weed out a good amount of auto-bots or hearing/asl/survey people advertisements.

The bots would be on an endless cycle to attempt to put links but it won't work. Hopefully they aren't programmed to say normal gibberish upon recognition.

Good suggestions.

There are some spammers are becoming clever, for instance... being on topic and relate to the thread but with odd website link added on.

Yeah I have seen a few of these before. They seem to only be recently released. Very smart because they know how to stay on topic.
One topic I was reading at another site about someone's death, the bot was able to say "I'm sorry for your loss & death" and also quoted a well known death quote!

Plus it didn't post any links, it just had a sig to hotels and places.

But maybe that's not so bad. They can contribute to the discussion when no one posts.

They post some kind of guides with pics on how to do something, then the link is to a site to buy something. It's been the recent forum fad.

they can still say go to this link and then simply type in the URL. Sure it would not work if you clicked on it but someone can still type it directly into a browser. To me it's not so much the people posting the spam stuff as it is the people that feel the need to click on it. I usually just ignore those things. So my suggestion is to not click on unknown sources. I recommend that to my friends and family now.
