In another post I talked about my mother getting her first hearing aid. Well, in my family we draw names and buy presents for the person we drew for a Santa gift (Secret. :))

You guessed it. I drew my mothers name. Since she's getting this hearing aid just before Christmas (Which is great because my CI activation day is one day after she gets her HA). I'm thinking about picking up a little hearing aid accessories package for her.

I haven't worn a Hearing aid in about 15 years. So I'm really out of date for what's out there these days.

So, do any of you have any suggestions? From my memory of my HA days I've already thought of one of those HA dryer packages and cleaners. HA's might come with those now days though.

There's a hearing aid resource center in my area and I'm going to stop in there in a couple of days (HARC). Maybe if you have a moment you can take a look at that link and let me know if anything you see is something you'd suggest. It's the kind of place that has all kinds of devices for HOH and deaf (Phones, alarms, etc...) So if any of you have any suggestions of things I should check out and see if they have please let me know.

I did not go through those pages, but Ear Gear. Colorful and fun.

Probably different. I know several adults who do wear it.

Chris, it is for both adult and children, why should adults not be allowed to personalise their HA's and CI's? It is theirs after all!!!

Lisa, i not know it okay because i never seen adult colour or stuff hearing aid. Plus i go to deaf school and a lot teacher wear hearing aid without colours or whatever. I am fine with adults what their want with HA or CI whatever. I never wear hearing aid for 5 or 6 years anyway because i not need it lol

What happened to the title of this thread? I know how to spell accessories.

Thanks for the ideas.

Ron

I am 50 - (cough-cough) years old Ron. I love to put little beads on my tubes, stick on rhinestones and tiny stickers. I like Bott's hearing aids very much. Her suggestion is nice. Click on her avitar and look at her fun has. Color is fun. If your mom might not be interested, lets go bare bones. How about a care kit? Most new aids come with a scaled down version now, though. A stick with a magnet to pick up and take out batteries with ease, a soft cleaning cloth, a small pouch or container for extra batteries is handy. Extra batteries? Eargene lotion to sooth irritation (if ok) is nice. I like a zipped notebook to hold my supplies and extras. If you are a big spender you might get her a sanitizer such as Dry and Store. (love mine, but paid a pittance for it on ebay) Good luck, Ron. You are such a thoughtful son.

Hey! I have EarGear, but recently I add (fabric) wrapping to sound tubes and also put "pony beads" on tubes! And I get my hair cut and let everybody see! My Deaf pastor liked it. So did a couple other people in the Deaf church I go to.

I want Ear Gear but the only colors for my HA's are beige. I want something colorful and flashy! I may have to make my own. Anyone have any patterns or suggestions?

I only know when my daughter made some to supplement my collection, she traced it on the fabric for shape, and you sew some line first to make the place for the elbow.

I advise buy the one you can, then analyse it.

women like wearing earrings, I don't see how accessories would be for children.

your mom might like an dry-aid, but it may be too practical for a Christmas present

if you have money, an earloop or somethng like that is very handy.

Ear Gear would be good, if you think your mom would use it. a Dry & Store would be hugely useful. Even a big pack of batteries would make a good gift.

Soundbytes has a 5-in-1 hearing aid tool kit that I've found extremely useful with my daughter. Would make a good stocking stuffer.

also, if you're mom is the type, you could order her a bear from Build-a-Bear with hearing aids.

If you're mom intends to learn ASL, this site has lots of nice ASL themed gifts. My daughter is getting the Princess and the Pea book/dvd in ASL from this site.

I have a Build a Bear Tiger with red hearing aids. He sits beside me.

Cute picture. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I'm going to HARC tomorrow and look around. You've given me things to look for. So thank you.
