I could possibly regain quite a bit of my hearing by having my stapes replaced. My plan is to continue using HA's for as long as I can before having surgery because of the risk of total loss of hearing, loss of balance. I'm a pilot, and I have heard that cabin pressure changes can result in leakage of the fluid in the inner ear for someone who has had the surgery. Has anyone here had the surgery? What were your results, and any complications?

Thanks,

Mike

Don't do it

Don't get your stapes replaced unless you have too.
I've had two stapes procedures in the same ear the first one lasted only a year, the second one I got a year and a half out of it. Plus I suffered from vertigo for over nine months after the second surgery. Nine months of constant vertigo. No fun. Now the doctor says that the best thing for me now is to use hearing aids. I wish I done that in the first place and I'd be able to hear right now not to mention the 3 grand I spent on surgery could have went to hearing aids in the first place.
