Thats awesome I wish you every success.
I get a bit little bit confused because in my country when they say speech therapy, people think it's practicing how to speak not listening to speech without lipreading?? what about you?
I have been having "speech therapy" for months now, it's not to help me to speak it's helps me to listen without lipreading which i am doing very well at the moment.
Last weds during my listening practice, they moved me to the sound booth and i was wondering why, so they asked me if they could "play about with my hearing, CI, and watching how sounds works on my map, i agreed because i wanted to learn!! They had checked my hearing to the lings sounds while i am still hooked on to the computer as they noticed that I was having problem telling the difference between SH and SS and thought i was trying too hard so they checked the mapping and saying those words and realised the frequecy for both are very similar! so it's NOT me, it's the way my map is, phew, i was getting pissed off with saying "I CANNOT tell the difference" but when a person say sentences like "SHe SellS Sea SHellS in a SHed by the Sea SHore!!" I know what she said without lipreading because I knew that the SH is stronger and little louder than S also I worked out the context of the sentence so i knew what she was saying before finishing the sentence so it had been quite an interesting afternoon not just for me for my CI audiologist, my speech and lang therapist and a CI audiologist visiting from Austraila, they had learnt few things!! And after 2 and half hours of messing about, laughing etc i was very tired!!
And course I love my paeditrics Speech and Language therapist, she is sooo funny, bubbly, she also signs which made the environment so much comfortable for me. I requested her because i wasn't comfortable with the adult SaLT.
