So if I may and gosh I really hope I don't upset anyone.. I would just like to post the questions and see if anyone responds.. Thank you so much in advance

Question 1: Are you satisfied with your hearing aids? Yes/No
Yes

Question 2: If not, why?
n/a

Question 3: Do you wear hearing aids every day? Yes/No
Yes. In my case, I only wear one since I only have one working ear (my right) to use a hearing aid with.

Question 4: If not, why?
n/a

Question 5: How many places did you shop before you purchased a hearing aid?
Just my regular audiologist, so just one.

Question 6: What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid you have?
a) price, b)brand, c) reputation of place where you purchased hearing aid or d)size of the hearing aid
You forgot quality of sound and its ability to withstand the elements/sweat to a degree (both of which were the most important factors that went into my most recent purchase decision).

Question 7: Do you believe you will eventually get a different hearing aid?
Yes.

Question 2: If not, why?
they pick up TOO much noise sometimes..understanding is difficult
Question 3: Do you wear hearing aids every day? Yes/No
for the most part unless I just don't feel like it then I don't
Question 4: If not, why?
sometimes too hot or don't want to listen to noise or people that day
Question 5: How many places did you shop before you purchased a hearing aid?
I didn't shop per se ...I did audi shopping though and LOVED the 4th one i visited in 3 years
Question 6: What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid you have?
a) price, b)brand, c) reputation of place where you purchased hearing aid or d)size of the hearing aid
none of these actually ...my hearing aid is water resistant and is a different type of aid for severe/profound losses it is one of the best hearing aids on the market...according to many and so this is what my audi recommended for me as she thought I would do well with it
Question 7: Do you believe you will eventually get a different hearing aid? Yes/No.

maybe but if my hearing gets worse I would prolly opt for a CI instead or maybe a better hearing aid will come out...who knows!

Thank you! Yes I am surprised professor didn't add about quality and withstanding the elements. He is an audiologist:) Much obliged to all of you for responding so quickly..

Question 1: Are you satisfied with your hearing aids? Yes/No
Yes, I am now. It took weeks to get used to it.

Question 2: If not, why?
I am satisfied, but needed to have an adjustment to get there.

Question 3: Do you wear hearing aids every day? Yes/No
Yes, unless I forget. I try to remember.

Question 4: If not, why?
Only if I forget.

Question 5: How many places did you shop before you purchased a hearing aid?
Two. First was with the audi at my ENT's. Nice fella, but $$$! Next place was Costco.

Question 6: What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid you have?
a) price, b)brand, c) reputation of place where you purchased hearing aid or d)size of the hearing aid
a) price. I'm hesitant to spend money on myself, with a family to think about.

Question 7: Do you believe you will eventually get a different hearing aid? Yes/No.
Yes, but hopefully not for a long time. I have a progressive hearing loss. The hearing aid I have now should serve well through some more loss of hearing.

Once again I apologize but do hope I get some response for my survey which was created by my professor Dr. Blair.

good luck with your research.

Question 1: Are you satisfied with your hearing aids? yes
Question 2: If not, why?
Question 3: Do you wear hearing aids every day? yes
Question 4: If not, why?
Question 5: How many places did you shop before you purchased a hearing aid? I browse online to see if there's any new high-powered hearing aids and look at their specs/features/etc. That's how I got my last 2 hearing aids.
Question 6: What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid you have? usually brand
Question 7: Do you believe you will eventually get a different hearing aid? maybe. Right now I'm trialing different hearing aids (Oticon Sumo, hopefully soon enough I'll trial the Phonak Naida IX). I currently wear Phonak Supero 413AZ. Am trialing them to see if there's improvements with my speech recognition with those hearing aids. If there is significant improvement, I may consider getting a new hearing aid (I only wear 1 hearing aid, in the right ear, since left ear is 100% profoundly deaf. I'm trying to get cochlear implant for left ear).

[QUick disclaimer: If you're using this in conjunction with speech pathology at all, know that I had to take about 8 years of speech (unrelated to hearing loss), all but one or two without hearing aids.]

Question 1: Are you satisfied with your hearing aids? Yes/No
Am I satisfied? I guess overall, yes. It's an odd thing to get hearing aids. At first my audiologist was getting my hopes up, but I decided to step back, because I only have a mild/moderate loss, so I didn't expect anything dramatic. Is there a noticeable difference between hearing with and without hearing aids? Yes, and they help. These are the only hearing aids I have ever worn, so I have nothing to compare them to.

Question 2: If not, why?
See above.

Question 3: Do you wear hearing aids every day? Yes/No
No.

Question 4: If not, why?
It seems weird to some of my hearing friends, but my hearing aids aren't a vital part of my life. I wear them for school, work, and any other professional situation. For example, if I'm participating in a conference, you know I'll be wearing them. Just to go shopping however, especially if I'm just with my family? They tend to stay home.

Question 5: How many places did you shop before you purchased a hearing aid?
Basically, I didn't do much "hearing aid selection". I'm a minor, so everything is covered by secondary insurance. Simply, after having impressions made I was given a hearing aid to walk around the office with on, to see a difference, then sat down at a computer where my aud basically showed me two different hearing aids. She said they were basically the same, only diff was that one of them had an attachable "boot" for my fm (microphone), while the other had the boot built-in. I picked the one with the external boot, even though it was bigger, because I figured if there was a problem with the boot, I wouldn't have to lose my hearing aid while it was getting repaired. Quite a resourceful 12 year old, wasn't I?

Question 6: What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid you have?
a) price, b)brand, c) reputation of place where you purchased hearing aid or d)size of the hearing aid

As I said, it wasn't that big a deal. Price was covered by insurance, (I actually think they were the same price), the brand is Phonak, the only brand presented to me, the place was my aud :D, who I pretty blindly trusted and still trust, and the size... well, as I said, the whole internal/external thing. Right now I'm looking at a smaller one, but only because there are some better options out there now concering FM technology.

Question 7: Do you believe you will eventually get a different hearing aid? Yes/No.
Yes, is the simple answer. It seems traditional with the audiology program I am with to get a new hearing aid (at least for a minor where insurance covers it) every 3 years. According to this, I am already overdue. The aud I see for minor repairs (tubing, molds, etc.) thinks that the hearing aid I have lacks what it should, especially for someone of my age. For example, I'm unable to use my hearing aids with the phone, which is something that the hearing aids I'm looking at would allow me to do with my FM.

Question 1: Are you satisfied with your hearing aids?
Yes.

Question 2: If not, why?

Question 3: Do you wear hearing aids every day?
Yes.

Question 4: If not, why?

Question 5: How many places did you shop before you purchased a hearing aid?
One, my audiologist. I did do research online, on AD, and asked around for opinions.

Question 6: What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid you have?
a) price, b)brand, c) reputation of place where you purchased hearing aid or d)size of the hearing aid
The quality of the aid, in my opinion. I like to try it out and see if I like it personally.

Question 7: Do you believe you will eventually get a different hearing aid?
My loss is becoming more profound than severe now, so if I lose enough that my HA renders useless, then no. But otherwise, sure, why not? As long as insurance covers it. :p
