I applied for a Sorenson VP-100 a long long long time ago never got one.

What I got instead was like a maze of speed tests and other unusual barriers to getting VP-100. If thats the way Sorenson going to be, screw them!

There's others you can use than Sorenson VP-100! We have others and we use them. And dont sign papers with Sorenson because you will give up your right to access the other VRS providers with your VP-100.

I believe FCC addressed these VRS oddities recently. You can learn about the FCC rulings in www.Deafnewspaper.com website in ASL.

The URL you gave us, their translation of ASL of the FCC ruling and the concept is inaccurate. I do not recommend people to consider this ASL translation official for FCC.

If you want me to be specfic about which seems conceptually inaccurate, pm me.

Jon

Theres several completely different ASL versions of of the FCC ruling already out the web. I just put the URL to the 'friendliest' version. If you dont like it that's too bad.

it took us 4 months.. finally we got it last month..
:) we love it.. hehe

Jon, in your opinion, which one have you seen that you believe is the most accurate? Please educate us!

Anyway, if you want to get down to it, none of the 4 points that Ken Davis mentioned are completely accurate. The way that I understand the FCC order is outlined in this thread:

http://www.alldeaf.com/showthread.php?t=13961

However, I do believe that points #1 (the Call Back issue) #3 (the waiting list for VRS calls issue) and #4 (The no blocking issue) are somewhat correctly addressed. Not 100% correctly addressed, mind you, but they hit on the important point then they add something else that was never in the order.

#1 - nowhere in the order are disconnects addressed -- and interpreters are NOT supposed to call you back anyway.

#3 - interpreters can't choose who they interpret for next -- BUT somehow a secret VIP list came about that automatically put those VIP people above those in the waiting list line. First come, first serve is the rule from the FCC.

#4 - you can still choose to be blocked from using other VRS, by choice, but never forced).

#2 did not address the point

#2 - Points were always about using VRS as much as possible in order to get SOMETHING free in exchange. The companies gained a LOT of profit from doing that. You can't use government funds in that way.

HOWEVER:

I think Ken Davis did an EXCELLENT job, very clear signing, very fluid, very attractive style. I'd like to see more videos like this. Kudos, Ken!
