will be nice.. to have them in malls or anywhere.. but.. think twice.. people will more likely to tend damages.. ugh..

Here in Utah, the Deaf Centre has two Videophone booths. I don't think they would install it out in the public yet though. SLCC, where I work at, has two regular VPs for people to use, but they are in private rooms.
 
Hope the the Sorenson phone booth will be interoperable like pay phone booths.

I doubt they will put in public areas, it would work best in private rooms like at deaf service centers, or similar. They also can use key entry to use that booth in rooms where it's secured against damage, like at malls or similar.
 
I really doubt it cause Sorenson would have to spend alot money and not getting a dime from FCC for equipment providing... So that is why they want to keep to themselves so that the FCC pay to Sorenson only though VRS calls usage. MONEY HAS TO BE COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN ORDER FOR COMPANY TO PROVIDE ANYTHING! Seems that some of you think that corporations have unlimited supply of money, or have money tree in their backyard. This is not true!

No Califofrnia deaf center will allow this thing be inside them. Besides I'm already involved in a project that will place video phones in popular places where deaf people already go to access their email accounts. Once completed, there wont be a need for these Sorenson booths.

Don't forget tax breaks, they still get lots of money. They even pay low wages to workers, too. Corporations do have lots of money and they have the typical corporation greed, remember that. Most corporations don't pay the taxes, most of the citizens pay the taxes. Look at Wal-mart, they have over $260 billion in revenues and it's growing. James Sorenson who owns part of Sorenson Media, he is worth $4 billion, :P
 
Does this really means UNLIMITED supply of cash flow? Any of these CAN go bankrupt just matter of overnight. You don't realize this!
I don't think you understand the between LIMITED and UNLIMITED. Also, you don't understand the tax system, tax write off ONLY saves you 30% of taxes on every dollar thats spent. Meaning the other 70% have to be coming from somewhere, not uncle sam, thats for sure.

You could keep fighting over interoperation rights. but you all forgot that anything thats patent gets 100% protected and sheltered. That goes to same thing in medical field, any patent medical equipment or pharmacy, no one is going to force them to share with other companies to sell generic part. That has been done for years. Patent office is NOT going to make an exception for Sorenson!

My suggesting for all of you is to quit fighting with Sorenson and START compete with Sorenson! Fighting and whining over this shit isn't going to help! Why CAN'T you all just shut up and develope something that would benefit for deaf community rather than spending all hard earned dollars in fighting with Sorenson!

This is good idea... Better than fighting with Sorenson. Why don't deaf organization write up grant to get the Videophone booth installed in specific or targeted area. That way, Gov't agency MIGHT be interested in helping out. I don't think Gov't would be willing to give grant to Sorenson, nor any VRS operators for these such booth. That might be conflict of interests for them. So, its better to have INDEPENDENT, non VRS provider to get this set up and going. That way, can have interoperation on the system.

I don't see why can't deaf organization do this.
 
"Time is money" your using your own time to fight with them. that is a Time Expense!

Sorenson get ALL of the money from FCC/NECA at the rate of about $7.50 per minute (aka $450/hour) and pays for the VRS booths. There is no need for James Sorenson to get more richer. Remember, S have 70% of the VRS market.

Did you know that S pay for hotels, daily meals, travel expenses for out of area interpreters? Even training workshops... The list goes on and on.

There is a VRS booth somewhere in Orange County as I heard. Hey, Richard, that is in your backyard, right?

Good idea! Let's wait for the FCC announcement on the results from the petition. Either way, someone is going become a bigger sucker.
