Son kills parents in food fight

January 08 2004 at 05:06PM

A husband and wife were stabbed by their son at their homestead in Umsunduzi near Pietermaritzburg on Thursday, police said.

Witnesses alleged that they were arguing about food when the son attacked them with a table knife, said Captain Joshua Gwala.

The 65-year-old man was found inside the house with multiple stab wounds to the throat and stomach. His 56-year-old wife sustained three stab wounds.

Gwala said her body was found near the gate where she had collapsed when she ran to call for help.

The 22-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested, said Gwala. The table knife - the supposed murder weapon - was also recovered.

Gwala said the suspect would appear in court shortly. - Sapa
Boy, talk about getting pissed off during dinner!

I agree -- what are they angry about? :dunno: son should go to mental class to handle his temper.

Geez, Wha... a young man should know better where respect his parent about foods. If dislike then simple leave the table... than aguring parent.
Now he is full of idiot and belong to bars. How's so Sad!

The world seems to get worse with killing, but parents killing their own helpless children is beyond worst. :(

*shaking my head*

I can't believe this son killed his parents over foods for dinner?....

He sure needs to be send into a Mental Clinic....

What a shame....

VamPyrox, let me know if you hear anymore about this incident. I am wondering what got their son so upset that he would stab his parents? I'm assuming that it's not just about the food, but that there were also other problems that he was so upset about.

Similar case, but over financial control

Son charged with Wales-King murders
By Kate Cox and Daniel Dasey

The Sun-Herald

Margaret Wales-King, above, and her husband Paul King.

The youngest son and stepson of Margaret Wales-King and Paul King has been charged with their murders.

Matthew Wales, 34, was charged in an out-of-sessions remand hearing at the Melbourne Custody Centre yesterday.

Police told the court he had made full admissions when questioned.

Maritza Elizabeth Wales, his 38-year-old wife, was charged last night on one count of having been an accessory after the fact to both the alleged murders. She was released on police bail.

She is understood to have made her own way to the St Kilda Road police complex yesterday afternoon, where she was interviewed by detectives before being charged.
The mother of a small boy, Domenik, she left the police complex about 7.45pm after be ing released on bail to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The millionaire couple shared a meal with Matthew and Maritza Wales and their son on April 4.

Their bodies were found in a shallow bushland grave at Marysville, north-east of Melbourne and post-mortem examinations showed they had been smothered.

Last week, homicide detectives seized a trailer allegedly hired by Matthew Wales from a Melbourne service station.

It is believed the couple may not have made it back to their Armadale home after the night out. Six days later, their $100,000 Mercedes-Benz was found, parked and locked.

Mrs Wales-King was found wearing the $100,000 in jewellery she had on when she went missing.

On Friday, a lawyer for Mrs Wales-King lodged a court order to seize her assets.

Her sister, Sydney socialite Di Yeldham, returns home from Melbourne tomorrow.

She told The Sun-Herald she would be required back in Melbourne in about a fortnight, but did not explain why.

''I feel for all the children, and that includes Matthew Wales, as if they were my own," she said.

There was ''absolutely no comment" she could make about the investigation, she said.

''It's a wonderfully strong family, quite deep-rooted on both sides of the family, and none of us stand alone," she said. ''We are all part and product of a very important family tree."

Wales's arrest comes just three days after he wept at the couple's funeral.

He was pictured wiping tears from his eyes after embracing his elder brother Damian following the service at St Peter's Catholic Church in Toorak.

Two plain clothes police officers attended the funeral and sat behind the family during the service.

Reports suggested on Wednesday that there was already tension between Wales and other members of his family.

Arriving with his wife, he appeared to hesitate before walking over to relatives and was the only member of his immediate family not to have a formal role in the funeral.

Mrs Wales-King's daughter Emma Connell read a Bible passage from Ecclesiastes and another daughter, Sally Honan, also read a scripture passage.

Damian Wales and his sister Prudence Reed read eulogies.

Matthew Wales sprinkled holy water on both coffins.

He then returned to the seclusion of a chauffeur-driven car with his wife while a short distance away other family members consoled each other.

At a subsequent memorial service on Thursday, Damian Wales hinted that his family faced further shocks in relation to the deaths but said they would face them together.

Matthew Wales also attended the memorial and offered a brief prayer of intercession.

Police were taken by surprise by the media interest in the deaths and, to protect the integrity of their investigation, Homicide Squad police chief Inspector Brian Rix obtained an unprecedented suppression order from the acting State Coroner Iain West, prohibiting the publication of potential exhibits found with the bodies.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Crime Trevor Thompson said police now needed to get on with the investigation rather than seek more help from the public.

Matthew Wales claimed that his mother, Margaret Wales-King used her wealth to control him and his life. So he killed her and his step-father over the reason of money.

As stated in an article from the local paper I read:
(April 12, 2003)
Justice Coldrey says Matthew Wales had told police that anger had built up in him for years over what he saw as his mother's use of money to manipulate him.

Lawyers for Matthew Wales had presented evidence showing Margaret Wales-King as manipulating, controlling or dominating her children through the use of money.

But ultimately she was preserving her money for her children, the judge says.

What a sad way for that to happen...Matthew definitely saw things 'twisted' around in his mind --

Crocodile tears!!!!!!!!!! Money is a killer!!

Money being the aggressor in this case...playing havoc with the minds of some such as this son...with anger being build up over the years...whether the mother had been manipulating her own son with her wealth doesn't even justify his own actions by taking a knife in his own hands...many other ways to handle this...we all will have various ways he could have handled this...mainly starting with 'anger management'...'seeking professional help via mental hospitals, etc.' is a few to mention here...So awful is this 'act' that took place at the dinner table...that something surely 'snapped' this son to the point of a deadly outcome! :ugh: What's going to be the next step for this man? Forever in prison or in a mental ward of a hospital? Some ppls. might consider justice being served by hearing the cackling of electricity surging towards a chair he is sitting in....!
