Hello all, I am new to this site so I'm am not totally sure what to do.
I am here to try to look more into my hearing loss and see if there's anyone else like me.
I was born without a cochlea in my right ear- nothing is there at all- but my left inner ear is COMPLETELY fine. No hearing loss whatsoever. Because I have one ear that is 100% hearing, we didn't discover that I was deaf until the second grade.
I am now a human biology student in college and as I have taken more classes, I have become more interested about myself. I have researched many times trying to find someone who shares this interesting situation with me but all I have found are people missing one cochlea and then having a malformed cochlea on the other side.
I guess what I'm searching for is if anyone knows anything or anybody who is like me. My curiosity has grown and even my audiologist, as well as others, have been surprised and thrown off by this odd quirk.
