I have a relative that does this when talking with deaf people and it's so embarrasing. He either shouts at them or talks so slow and deliberately to "help" them read his lips. I even tell him to just talk normally and use appropriate facial expressions. But I think he just does it out of habit now.I have seen people start talking loudly to people who don't understand English too, like how is that supposed to help anything?
