I just got a call from my audiology center(At the Cleveland Clinic). They are trying to get into a new study for Cochlear implant more suited to those who still have some hearing left(not the hybrid but some new off shoot of the traditional CI). They asked me to volunteer if they got approved for the study. The thing is they did not provide much information about the device. I was wondering if anybody had heard anything through the grapevine?

No tyet

I am not an implant user yet(Last evaluation had me at bordeline(Was just waiting to ge over the line). That is where the study is supposed to come in(If Cleveland Clinic gets to participate). This is supposed to be a new implant desighned for those people who are border line but not all the way there yet. From what I was told the company testing it is fitting the bill(Was not told wich one would be bringing out this new wonder device).

University of Iowa has a hybrid CI/HA study they are doing. Could it be similar to that? Maybe one of the other manufacturers is trying to emulate the new Mid-Scala from Advanced Bionics??

I know there are H.A. Implants that go in the middle ear that are doing quite well and work quite amazingly. Maybe it's something similar?
