I am not sure if you all remember the issue I had with my first audi screwing me over 5k on the first hearing aids I have??

Well I just had the last appointment with my new audi who I loved! I have only had them for about 3 months and the other day I received a letter in the mail telling me they are closing their office down in my town and referring all their patients to THE PLACE I WAS GOING BEFORE!!! I couldn't believe it! I just stopped going to the place when I learned he wasn't looking out for my best interest. I wasted a huge chunk of money there only to be led onto the fact I had the best hearing aids for me. When I felt it wasn't right I went to a different audi to get a second opinion and I was right, everything I was feeling was correct. And now they are closing this friday.

My new audi told me I don't have to go there but he would like to see me give it another try. AND he may be getting the chance to work there with him. If by chance he works there I will have no issue with going there but I am sure it will be awkward. Don't get me wrong, the old audi was very nice to me I just think his judgment was clouded in deciding what was right for me after my hearing started to rapidly decline.

So I am sad because in this kind of business you grow a bond with the person that is helping you hear again. even though it was only 3 months, I got attached to the service they provided me and the help they gave me to make everything right. My new audi told me that if I needed help and didnt feel comfortable going to the old office to give him a call and he will help me with whatever whenever, service etc... Its nice but I will miss them =(

I would probably get a new one, even if I had to travel. I think it would be hard to put trust into this group even if your present audiologist joins them.

This is not just some hearing aid dispenser is it?

No, both were actual audiologist. I took a test at both places. The place I have been going to the last 3 months have offices all over the state and I told my audi I would be willing to travel. However if he by chance does join his office, (which would only be him and my old audi in that office) I would follow only because I know my best interest is what he thinks about. He even told me it might not be something he is looking for and the fact he may not even be able to find another job here in town is tough. The reason it is so tough for me and why he was the only other person in town for me to go to is because they were the only two who deal with Starkey (the hearing aids I have) I guess we will see. My audi told me he has a few ways he could work out getting me service with people he knows. I'm just bummed because after everything I went through to finally get the aids I needed and be at a place I liked going to, they are closing.. sigh.. such is life though I suppose.

Yes, I know what you mean. Hoping it will work out. Sometimes things can surprisingly get better.

Hi sweetie, I know the feeling. This is why I find it SO hard not to become very attached with professionals that actually care and use empathy towards me.

It's a rarity these days to find caring professionals.

hopefully everything works out for you. I stopped going to my local audiologist after I found out he was indeed a scammer. I've never been scammed by him, but I don't want to take that chance. He has been pretty good for me, but... I feel like I could have gotten better service so I have debated on going back to the University of Wyoming's audiology department... they have always been excellent. I only stopped going to the university when local audie moved HERE several years ago (he was from the university audiology, but funny enough, he was FIRED from there for scamming basically)... I was glad when he first came here cause that meant no more traveling 2 hours down to the University just for an adjustment to the hearing aid haha. But now, I feel it'd be better to make the trip for proper excellent service. But right now I'm more focused on finding insurance coverage so I can get left ear implanted, so I've just left my right hearing aid alone (it's working fine now, don't need further adjustments right now). But I do understand the audiologist frustrations.
