It was a 3-11, then a 5-11, now a 6-11. The last, and worst is the dreaded 7-11.

I see it right from here. The fire is located right next to AT&T Park (SF Giants MLB team).

Mark, I'm 2 hours away from there. Thanks for checking though.

My bad. I knew you lived in Northern CA, but wasn't quite sure if you lived in SF. However, I'm glad you're not anywhere near there.

This is not far from where Pier 39 is. Local news says it is 5 alarm fire and fortunately no one is injured. Fire department is going to stay on scene through the night to monitor the fire and the building.

Most big cities do not go past 5-11, if ever. For example, in very rare cases, the Chicago Fire Department will call a 5-11 with two special alarms-- the same as a 7-11, but the only case I know of a large city going 6-11 or higher is NYC, and that fire was a large one.

Here's how big it was.

This fire could be seen up to 5 miles away-- from there to downtown Chicago.

After the fire was struck down:

This building no longer is standing. It was demolished after the fire via order by the City.
