I'm a 2nd year ASL student. I know that I have learned this sign but I can't remember what it is and my teacher used to several times last class..

You make one hand into the letter "R" and then you tap your other hand with it at the top and bottom.

Thanks in advance :)

I hope you all have a lovely day!

depends on the orientation of the non dominant hand etc
Rule "B" hand is up and down, register "B" is horizontal ??

Rule and Register are the same signs that has a "R" with the top to bottom. Both are correct so it might mean you have to mouth the word to understand which one are you talking about. If can not use the mouth word, then the sentence will explain which word means what like I am going to rule the world or I have register for this semester at college. That might help to clarify what the word for a sentence. Make any sense? :hmm:

yeah i not understand what do mean ASL (american sign language) us i enjoy, and my hearing friend name her James can ASL sign....

the_blah - just for your information, this is the american deaf forum where a lot of deafies around the world contriube the time here, but I understand that some different members can learn the ASL, such as myself being a bit fluent in ASL. Golly, I haven't used my VP in a while, dammit.

RULE palm orientation of the non-dominant hand is facing the reader of the sign, fingertips pointed up. The "R" dominant hand moves from top to bottom on the non-dominant palm. (Same movement, different initialization for LAW.)

REGISTRATION palm orientation of the non-dominant hand is facing up, fingertips pointed toward the reader of the sign. The "R" dominant hand touches the heel of the palm, then the base of the fingers of the non-dominant palm. (Same movement without initialization for SIGNATURE or CONTRACT.)

You can see signs demonstrated at ASLPro.com Home website.
