I need to find some way to more reliably detect the vibrations from my Sidekick 3. I often carry it in a pocket, where the vibrations may not always be felt.

1) Is there a belt holster which is more effective at transmitting the vibrations to your hipthan others? That awful thing that comes with it falls off too easily, and I can't always feel the vibes through the belt holsters that I've tried.

2) Is there a way to maximize the vibrations in an SK3? Usually I leave it on "Buzz" or "Silent" with the sound turned off in the settings. I do wish there were a version specifically for the deaf with a stronger vibrator and maybe forego the phone and music player options. I know that probably their HOH clients outnumber their deaf clients, but I can dream for a moment....

Any thoughts?

Have you tried going through the different sounds?

Some sounds give small/short buzzes and some give big/long buzzes.

Oh I hate that stupid pouch T-Mobile sends with the Sidekicks. HATE IT! Right now I normally have the sidekick in my pocket, and I've been able to feel the vibrations without any problem. Always makes me jump, as a matter of fact. But I am looking online for protective covers and clips for the SK.

Maybe you can sew up one? Using a thin and strong fabric. That way you can design it to go anywhere on your body.

That's what I am planning to do when I get one of my own. I hate having one (my cellphone) on my hip because of position I always sit, where it get crushed. I don't sit in normal way at home lol. I am planning to design one to go on my leg/shin.

To answer the question, yes I already use Tricolor for IMs (three buzzes), and I just switched to Siren for text and e-mail. I experimented a bit, and it seems to me like Siren is the longest of the vibration alerts.

The main problem with having it in my shirt pocket is if I lean forward and it falls away from my chest. Similarly, a loose pants pocket does the same. That's why I'd like to find a holster that works. I'm thinking that if I get a holster that stays on well, and maybe add a curved wood or aluminum plate behind it, that might transmit the vibrations better. I'll just have to try it and see.
