No I don't think everyone needs to assimutate. Sorry if I offended you. I respect people who are happy with the way they are but I get offended by people who tell me to find a different group because I am deaf not Deaf. My daughter, who is HOH, is learning sign (so I use that for experience) is 13. She has some really good friend but if limited to sign their conversations are limited. For Deaf its not such a big deal because they have others who are Deaf. For people like us its limiting. Again I apologize if I offended you just want people to see both sides of the coin
