Severe flooding slams Detroit area; one dead

it's a mess out there. I live and drive daily in some of the affected areas. Today we cancelled any runs to east side of the Detroit area because it's such a mess right now
 
The same system brought 10 inches of rain in my town and caused severe flooding as well. My town was closed off to the public for most of the day.
 
We're getting a storm Wednesday and there could be some flooding along the coastline . I am not right near the ocean so I will be OK. I think the storm is getting close b/c I saw a flock of herons flying low I the sky , they where flying over my condo just as I stepped outside . Birds fly low when a storm is coming . I never seen so many herons at one time .

I wish there was some way all the flood water could be sent to California . It's too bad an underground pipe could not be build and when there is too much rain the water would flow into the pipe and travel to your state.

We're going to be in Fall River Wednesday; I hope the rain won't be a problem.
 
I did not notice much except my sump pump was running constantly - floorboards were vibrating so much the whole house felt like a massage chair.
 
I saw this on news. I may be going into the affected area in few weeks. It should be long subdued by then, but we'll see.

In 1994, I was living in Texas at the time and during senior year in high school. We had several days of heavy rain, rivers and lakes were flooded into the street and all over. My town was in standstill, can not go anywhere. School was out for a week due to auditorium and partial hallway in the front of school was flooded. After repairs and cleaning up, school was reopened. Fortunately, we did not have to make up the missed days of school and I went off to graduate. A lot of things happened that year including OJ Simpson police chase that was on the news all over.

I am sorry that the storm system is preventing you going to Fall Rivers. I'm curious, though. Is that a nice area?

That is a bummer , I thought about you today when I hear how long the rain was going to last. I had to do some errands today and take Marty to the park , I did this before the heavy rain came . Marty and I walked on the boardwalk , I wanted to see if the waves where big and Marty jumped up onto the railing to try and see the water too.
