Wraps Up Two-Night Run with Finale Tonight on ID

On the heels of its successful first foray into original scripted programming, Investigation Discovery (ID) premiered SERIAL THRILLER: THE CHAMELEON, the follow-up installment of “Serial Thriller: Angel of Decay,” on Sunday and the two-night event concludes with the chilling finale tonight, Monday, December 7.

THE CHAMELEON takes viewers behind a twisted true story of reinvention, revelation and passion. In the early ’80s, fear grips a small American town when a cunning, manipulative sociopath emerges from the shadows. Targeting young females with his irresistible charm, The Chameleon carefully covers his tracks by masking his identity with multiple disguises. As the body count grows and suspects are eliminated, detectives are forced to expand their search across state lines. Viewers join authorities on the manhunt, learning that they are not only investigating the work of a serial killer, but also racing against the clock to save a survivor who has been his captive for 12 days.

The SERIAL THRILLER trilogy propels viewers into a chilling true crime story of a real-life serial killer. The murderer’s identity is a mystery at first, leaving viewers to unravel the clues from episode to episode, with each character’s vivid storyline serving as a reminder that behind every crime are real people and lives devastatingly transformed. The eerie outcome may have been ripped from the headlines, but SERIAL THRILLER reveals the whole narrative by weaving together the factual accounts from those closest to the killer, and the survivors he left behind.

The first installment of the trilogy, “Serial Thriller: Angel of Decay,” premiered in June, 2015 and profiled notorious serial killer, Ted Bundy. The third and final installment will air on Investigation Discovery in 2016. Kevin Bennett, general manager of Investigation Discovery, commented on this expansion by ID into scripted programming:

As proven by the success of the first installment, SERIAL THRILLER is a tremendous opportunity for ID to expand into scripted-programming territory, engaging a whole new audience while staying true to ID’s signature storytelling style. Leaving viewers at the edge of their seats,THE CHAMELEON unfolds the shocking twists and turns of a dark investigation that launched detectives on a four-year manhunt.

The three episodes of SERIAL THRILLER: THE CHAMELEON, are described by Investigation Discovery as follows:

Part I (Premiered Sunday, December 6)

Fear grips residents of a community when girls begin disappearing at an alarming rate. Detectives are faced with a growing body count and all evidence points to more than one man operating with the same M.O. Two years later, a young woman is held captive by a mysterious couple. Over the next 12 days, she learns about the man’s violent past and the secrets that make him so determined to mask his true identity.

Part 2 (Premiered Sunday, December 6)

When a dental hygienist is kidnapped from her community, her unknown assailant and his female accomplice drag the young woman from motel to motel, often parading her around in public. As their drug-fueled violence begins to spin out of control, even the accomplice starts to question her involvement with the charismatic killer. As police close in on the unlikely trio, the victim battles to stay on the right side of her volatile captor, looking for a way out of the nightmare.

Part 3 Premieres Tonight, December 7, at 9 p.m. ET

Holed up in a hotel, the victim and the accomplice wait for police to storm the room. When the elusive killer slips free from the police, a manhunt is launched to find him before he kills again. In one last encounter, “The Chameleon” drives across the countryside with a new God-fearing captive held at gunpoint, desperately looking for a final way out.
