I have a few items I would like to sell on ebay.
But I have 0 experience, and couldn't find the info I needed most - does the ebay charge the sellers for anything? like, for the use of their site to conduct the selling business?
if yes, how much? does anybody know?

Thanks in advance :)

I don't know anything about selling on eBay. I like to buy stuff from there.

I sell stuff through craigslist, buy some through eBay, I personally prefer Amazon because of 2 day shipping, and no BS fees.

Yes, Ebay takes a cut of what you make from selling the item. It varies from category to category and how you sell it, they also take a portion of the shipping charges and you also have a pay/pal charge to add to it. You aren't charged at the time of the sale but get a bill at the end of the month from Ebay.

Looks like they changed it a bit since the last time I sold anything on EBay (well over 10 years ago lol) but what Seb said is about right in the present day.

I have only bought a pair of hearing aids on Ebay.. nothing else and likely won't use it, ever again.

Thanks guys :ty: :ty: :ty: :ty: :ty:
So, if I for example sell a painting for $20, the eBay takes, lets say, 1% or summat from my 20 bucks, right?
I am not very happy about that because considering I barely will make money on the picture.. oh well.
I am not clear on the "portion on the S&H charges" - what does that mean, that I am not responsible for the entire cost of S&H?
Now, that sounds way better :)

One more thing - to whom I sent the sold stuff - to the address the eBay provides or directly to the buyer?

ps Craigslist I know, I sometimes sell there too, and from amazon I buy things - never used this company for selling - is it worth selling from there? I thought amazon only sells a brand new stuff?

Be careful selling on ebay. You are responsible for the item until it reaches the buyer. So if it's lost or damaged in shipping you are responsible. Get shipping insurance when appropriate. Also there are as many scammers out there for sellers as well as buyers. When there is a disagreement with no evidence one way or the other ebay will side with the buyer. Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback on buyers either.

Thanks for the caution. what if I video packing the thing at the post office or UPS office? will that count as evidence?
