Hey All.
I'm new on here.
I'll introduce myself and then tell you what I'd like to find.

My name is Denise. I've personally taught myself to sign. I've been signing now for 3 years.
I also have a friend who is deaf. She inspired me to sign alot, even though I've always wanted to learn this language.
So she bought me an ASL dictionary. Then in January right after my birthday and Christmas, I took some of my birthday money and went and bought me some software to help me learn ASL.

I just recently moved back to Oklahoma.
I'm starting Central Tech in Drumright, OK in the fall, I eventually will begin my career in photography.
After doing two years of that, I'd like to attend OSU (Oklahoma State University) and take their ASL course, so I can get certified for ASL.

I'm looking for a group near Tulsa, Ok.
For multiple reasons.

Mainly when I sign, I sign Christian songs kind of like a special song at my church. Its become such a ministry for me to use to help minister to other people, whether they are deaf or not.
I'm not deaf or hard of hearing. I'm just a girl who was inspired. I believe God has helped me tremendously through learning this.
I have two other friends with the same background as myself.

I trully desire to talk to deaf people. I don't find them any different. I personally believe that deaf and hard of hearing peolpe have a better perspective on life then those of us who can hear. We just take life so forgranted.

I'm sorry for talking so long.

I hope someone is able to help me.

Thanks.

~Denise~

I live south of Tulsa and there's ITP training program at Tulsa Community College, which is about 45-60 minutes from Drumright. Are you planning to attend OSU Tech in Oklahoma City? Which religion are you? I can find out which church has deaf groups. Also in Tulsa there is Silent Dinners, Starbuck deaf chat, and next weekend there is Souper Sunday, the fund raising event for TSHA, an organization for the deaf. Please check your PM.

By the way, welcome to AD!

Welcome to AD and enjoy. My father was born in Terelton and still has plenty of family in OK. He goes back there every summer to catch up.

You may want to check out www.aslpro.com. It's an online dictionary with a large section of religious signs.
