Fine. 
I was basically self taught. We transferred from New Jersey to California during the school year. The CA students had already learned how to write but at the NJ school we were still printing. The teacher didn't have time to teach me cursive, so she gave me a practice book, and told me to practice at home. So I did. 
It really doesn't take that much time, so I don't know what all the hubbub is about.
