A SCHOOL has BANNED "dirty dancing" at discos and proms.
Students at Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida, must abide by a new "face to face with space" rule at events.

This means youngsters can only dance facing each other and with significant space between them.

School bosses and teachers say students "bumping and grinding" at dances is inappropriate.

Most parents seem to be on board with the new restrictions.

Dad Rich Dowse said: "When you go to a school function, you should be expected to act accordingly.

"But if chaperons did their job, we'd never get to this point in the first place."

The students, however, are mostly opposed to the guidelines and say the way teens dance is all in good fun.

The youngsters are so irritated by the new rule that a group have formed a Facebook page in protest, called Homecoming Plan B.

They're planning an alternate dance this Saturday — off school property. So far, 163 youngsters have signed up.

Student Kat Marshall said: "A lot of the seniors aren't going to be down to just dance face to face and I think we should dance how we want."

Newsome's Homecoming is on Saturday, October 2. Students could get kicked out if they refuse to follow the new rules.

yeah well ... parents need to actually .... parent. Take away a few things and be "mean" once in a while.
 
well, fair enought we got enought problems with promisicuity, and teenage pregnancy....
and also it that back to square dancing ? lol
 
it's more like, stop teaching kids to being molest each other that led them being horny and led to bed. Oh no!
 
I used to dirty dance. I had the time of my life. I never felt that way before. I swear. It's the truth.
 
psh, that's just stupid rule. I did grind and dance back in high school and college, and nothing bad came out of it (no teen pregancy, etc). Administrators can be soo annoying and thick-headed.
 
wow that is banned dancing how come code of ethic. I think so strict school! whoa change new rule !

back in '02 during HS, the admins/chaperones would kick out students for "bumping and grinding". They'd probably leave and go do something even more stupid.
 
Remember how in the 50s, if one danced like Elvis, they are committing a sin. :lol:
 
HAHA! Video was pretty cool!...Gonna show my boys tomorrow after school, don't think they've seen a dance like this....

Remember I was banished back to the dorm for slow dancing "too close" to my boyfriend at the Jr/Sr. prom.....really pissed me off! We both nearly got suspended.....

I think "Dirty Dancing" is great! Don't see a darn thing wrong with it. Seems the school/parents are trying to bring back the 50's-60's....
 
my BF and i went to see "dirty dancing" broadway show, it was like hot dance show.

i do the dance like that if i were jennifer grey ;)
