SayWhatClub

Same old Hearing Health 101 stuff that tends to have a large percentage of late deafened people.
I love how this group and HLAA tries SO hard to be interesting, but it's DULL as a glass of water. There's just really no way that you can make Hearing Health 101 all that interesting. Granted it's not just exclusive to this group...you see the same thing with Sight issues with late blinded people as well......

OK , I was just wondering what people thought of it , I came across it by accident .

I was a member at one time, but left for no other reason than that I got bored with it. I can tell you this one is a lot more fun and more interesting.

At Say What Club, it's divided into categories as to your interest, and they keep each section on topic. If you joined the CI topic that's what the conversation was about. Another was making friends and general conversation.

They may have changed all that now as it was quite a while ago that I was a member.

You could always give it a try.

There's nothing wrong with these "Hearing 101", as DeafDyke LOVES to call them, if all you're looking for is information. No need to put the forums down just because they're not as social as AllDeaf. Every forum has it's own purpose.

:ty: I had not joined it maybe I will poke around there and see what it about . I agree AllDeaf is very interesting and never boring . :giggle:

Years ago, I was on an email list for a say what club. I'm not sure if this blog is the same list. As I remember it, it was more like a list version of Alldeaf without all the separate categories. I don't remember people posting pictures. We did have good conversations. It didn't rise to the hostility level we have here on AD. Not sure how it was moderated. I'm sure some people must have gotten kicked off the list.

Why do you feel so attacked? A little snarly are we? Seriously, they have the flavor of those Hearing Health 101 pamphets that the audi gives you that nobody ever reads. It gets DULL after the first few times of "OMG this is great stuff!" I also love how there's a hyperfocus on The Latest Hearing Aids (check it out ...THIS hearing aid allows you to hear EVERY SINGLE DROP OF PEE IN THE TOILET!) or a reintroduction of a product like the Soundbridge, like some stupid additional feature is going to magically revolutionize your life, when the problem isn't quality of hearing aids or other hearing stuff, it's the fact that NOBODY can afford the devices, especially on top of the INSANE cost of healthcare nowadays. It's almost like the groups are run by reps from the Hearing Health companies and audis that want to sell stuff....but don't quite have Madison Ave style flair for promoting products in an interesting way.

deafdyke, they get paid to be 101. All groups with national affiliation must cater to their respective sponsors who give them money. Any sanctioned gathering, digital or otherwise, needs to show affiliated the sponsor products or services.

If you, or anyone, as a private person or group want to create more a social group, you can, nobody will stop you. However, you would also be legally at risk for anything that happens. A bike ride where people could get hurt; a drinking night where people could get into fights; a beach gathering where people could drown, the for all events the group must cover the risks. And, to cover risks takes money. It's really no different than someone slipping on ice outside your home when invited.

So, it's not surprising that all the groups are pushing 101.
