You were in the Navy, so feel you can answer my question....(It relates to a GoFundMe account)...Someone I know...her father is retired from the Navy...he also drove Semi trucks after retirement....His wife died recently...so his daughter started up a GoFundMe account to pay for the funeral bills....
It was my understanding that if you are a Navy veteran, then your spouse is covered also??...(Funeral expenses).....
I'm reluctant to donate until I hear otherwise....
 
In general, no, a spouse's funeral expenses are not covered by VA. One exception is if the veteran is buried in a National cemetery, and the spouse will share the grave, then the plot itself is free but that's all. The survivors would still have to pay for body preparation, casket, funeral services, etc.

It has to be a National cemetery only.
