A sweet story about the interaction with Santa and the little girl.
The only downside is the mum. She apologized for her daughter's speech, and didn't seem to know much about what her daughter could sign. It makes me suspect that mum isn't very involved with signing with her daughter in a meaningful way.
I could be wrong and just reading too much into this brief exchange.
I hope after viewing what a positive difference sign communication can make that the family will be encouraged to go further with their signing.
They're probably well-meaning but that's not very empowering. It's also tradition, which can be difficult to overcome.I don't know, either but from what I've seen over the years, the one word used a lot over there, agencies included is "charity".......

Caz, how did you rate Santa's signing? I know its the thought that counts and I thot it was pretty cool that Santa's moving his hands around perked up that little girl. My impression was that Santa really didn't convey anything in that exchange....is your BSL native-like or thereabouts?
