Rights on signs

I not sure where I read this and unable to find on net.ASDA which owned by wallmark have the tap pocket advert back and they say they have total rights to this..ASDA in BSL is tap on pocket and would be used in sign books.
I understand James Bond the same arm across chest fingers gun position.Iwould not think affect signer but how can you buy and own the right to a sign that is part of our language
 
Are you asking if specific signs can be trademarked?
 
Yes I think so.Asada I believe having problems unable find out much about it
 
If Walmart same thing company is it same sign could this argument be won in America as part of asl we would have to follow.

Just seem odd trademark on a sign.Could Asda insist the sign only done in store by staff.Not that anyone take any notice but could be removed from books to interpertating on tv..If they do that not be popular but if doing t is it fee advert for them.In that case they owe RSPD.Many words are blanked on tv due to copyright free advertising or slander.See how it goes

Apple,& Beatles were fighting over a Trademark they both were using , a photo of an Apple .

It wasn't the Beatles themselves but the company that they founded, Apple Corps that was in a legal dispute with Apple Computers. Beatles were disbanded by the time Apple Corps was founded in 1976 but all 4 still held ownership of the company.
