1. Never ahead, ever behind,
Yet flying swiftly past;
For a child I last forever,
For adults I'm gone too fast.

2. It has a golden head
It has a golden tail
but it hasn't got a body.

3. Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.

4. It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.

5. A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

6. Alive without breath,
As cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking,
All in mail never clinking.

7. This thing all things devours:
Birds, beast, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

8. You must keep it after giving it.

9. I am so simple,
That I can only point
Yet I guide men
All over the world.

10. Keys without locks
Yet I unlock the soul.

:D

Um, what are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to answer EACH or is all equal one thing?

Vampy, I hope you came up with all of those on your own. :cool: I would be very impressed if you did!

Promise is a good answer, and I reckon I'll accept it. There's another answer, too.

Congrats! I have 100 more... *evil*

"Childhood" can't be ahead and behind itself, it's short but lasts forever in mind. When you consider yourself an adult, then it doesn't exist.

This was easy. Head & Tail but no body, duh! The gold was the hint that it was a "Gold Coin".

This was tough. I had a little help from a friend of mine. Ironically, he was just counting his teeth when I was reading this riddle. He had just said to himself "30" when he read this.

This was easy. You can't escape "Dark" cuz it's eternal.

I've heard of this one before.

Of course, "Time" devours everything. I remember someone mentioning this when we saw the movie, Langoliers.

Promise

This was way too easy. I've used a "Compass" many times at camp and in cars.

I've heard this said by musicians.

I would have guessed the first one to be TIME not childhood

Interesting...I'm not an expert on riddle-solving, :lol: Still it was interesting to see it interpreted. ;)
