No, the meanings are not the same.


There's no spin. Turning in escaped killers is a positive action. Nothing big brother about that.



And cons must accept the consequences of their escape attempts.


The cop and the kidnapped boss didn't deserve to die, and the two murderers had no justification in killing them. None.



Cop killers and their supporters are evil.



I never stated that a nation of rats or tattletales was a good thing. I stated very specifically that those people who turned in the escaped killers did a good thing. That's not ratting or tattling, and it's not a nation of people.



Turning in bad people who are doing a bad thing is good.



A free society is not an anarchy for killers to run loose in. The killers gave up their right to freedom when they chose to murder.



This was not a case of big brother. As you pointed out, it wasn't high tech surveillance equipment or techniques that caught the escapees. It also wasn't "everyone" turning in "anyone."  It was a few specific individuals turning in two escaped killers.
