What happened:

". . . Senior Master Sgt. Oscar Rodriguez was invited to speak at the April 3 ceremony by an outgoing fellow master sergeant from the 749th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. In a story first reported by FoxNews.com days later, video showed Rodriguez being forcibly removed by service members at Travis Air Force Base.

'This was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life,' Rodriguez told FoxNews.com. 'All I wanted to do was honor Master Sgt. [Charles] Roberson, his guests, and the flag, with my speech.'..."

fascinating how quickly america has changed...

it really is...

never thought id see this type of soviet behavior in america.

its always strange when you find pravda defending peoples rights to pray, and then see this in america..
it almost makes one wish to pinch themselves...so odd. like a twilightzone episode int he real...

fascinating

What was the "official" reason the USAF gave for his removal?
The link that said 'first report' tell more about the story.

"A source who was present at the event told the military blog that Rodriguez was there at the request of the retiree, but had been banned from the base by the squadron commander. " taken from the link.

Yet, I read other sources that said that the squadron commander wanted Rodriguez banned from the base but wasn't allowed to do that. :dunno:

Normally, a squadron commander is in charge of a tenant command, not the base itself. The tenant commands are just located on the base but they aren't in charge of the base rules. That means, only the base commander can ban anyone from the base. A squadron commander wouldn't have that authority.

So, this is confusing.

It is confusing. The video shows him just standing there, apparently NOT giving the speech, when he was removed.

Something does not add up.
