both - 4.5 years at a public school and deaf program then 8 years at a residential school.

1998 when I first moved to Australia - (never been turned down for a job in California) I had turned one job down because I didn't want to work in a fast food restaurant which was Burger King! :lol:

Yes, they actually said to me that my deafness is a liability and they didn't want to take the responsibility.

9.) What is your current career?

Attendant Carer/Residential Care Support Worker - working with intellectually disabled individuals.

10.) What is your income?

Combined or single? Combined - approximately $60kAUD

11.) Do you feel you deserve more/less?

More respect and understanding

In a way, yes.

Unemployed job hunter (I've been doing this for over 8 months now!)

I'm only getting SSI... I hope to get a career-level job very very soon (which I have been saying for the last few months)

11.) Do you feel you deserve more/less?
Of course, I deserve more -- I intend to get a full-time job (while also working part-time)

12.) Do you feel discriminated at your current job?
As an unemployed job hunter, I do sometimes feel discriminated in the job market -- I sometimes, but not always, encounter difficult people via the relay (hanging up, etc). Several times after a pre-interview questioning session via the relay, I was told that a hiring manager will call me in for a face-to-face interview. That never happened, and the jobs already been filled when I inquired.

6.) What was your first job? stock clerk at a supermarket when i was 16

When was the first time you were turned down for a job? i dont remember if i was turned down when i first time applied a couple of places before i found this job at 16. but after i returned hoem from college ive applied a lot of places for 8 months, i guess it was my first time being turned down.

8.) Do you feel you were rejected as a result of your “disability”? yes- some, not all of places ive applied to.

9.) What is your current career? senior office clerical and a little bit of payroll specialist/installation for clients.

11.) Do you feel you deserve more/less? yes i do, with all of my hard works, ive been intercepted from promotion by one of supervisors.

12.) Do you feel discriminated at your current job? yes, one of my supervisors doesnt want me to do anything else than my clerical job. he made up some good excuses to avoid training me for other jobs. even though i have started doing other things, ive impressed others but he stopped me from doing these things "to change the jobs for everyone for better ways" bullshit excuses.
