"Happy" 9/11?

Americans don't celebrate the anniversary of 9/11. We remember 9/11, and we honor those who were killed or injured or lost loved ones. We thank rescuers and protectors for their work and sacrifices of that day.

It's "Remember 9/11" not "Happy 9/11."

Wirelessly posted (Backberry)

This day makes me very sad. I will be in Washington, DC at the memorial with the president speaking.

I don't want to see 9/11 at all because of politicians. They ain't a "hero". Willful NYC Police Officers, Port Authority Police Officers and FDNY Firefighters is Heroes! Sadly, they ain't invited. Damn politicians. They do nothing but sit their asses watch these heroes help people in Twin Towers. They lost their lives to help. Fuck politicians.

Cant believe it has been 10 years. I remember almost every minute of that day as if it happened yesterday...was in DC when it happened. It wasnt a happy time, that I can say for sure.

Apparently, I've heard that a lot of the members of the NYPD and FDNY aren't allowed at the memorial ceremony, due to a "lack of room". Politicians, however are. WTF?!?! Give those spots to the people who flippin deserve them!

It'll be a sad day of remembrance. 9/11 is not, and never will be "happy".

Just saw your signature regarding your recent loss of your father. My condolences. (off topic for this)

I don't think the poster intended to be insulting. It is still creepy because that's a title a terrorist would use, and this is just a really sensitive topic.

I can see why it is really appalling that the very men and women who should be present are not invited....but personally, I'd rather have the police, etc. out there with all hands on deck because 9/11 is usually the date we have to be on high alert from another attack. The threat is real.

my thoughts exactly too, jus the need to realise what he's writing

I feel a little bad that i dont remember much. But I was still little.

i remember being in school and I was in private school (in maryland) and everyone was being taken out one by one and brought home and such since many students at my school were politicians kids, government, army/navy, etc. There were 1-2 kids parents who died in the pentagon and one of my dads customers died in one of the towers while he was there doing business or something. It was a very sad day indeed and those who were in the pentagon, twin tower and that flight that crashed in PA all need to be remembered as well as the many people who were helping such as police and firefighters.

I saw the smoke at the Pentagon from my 8th floor dorm window in Carlin Hall. I will never forget.

Tonight, I had dinner with veterans in a local American Legion Post. They noticed my wife and I signing, and one asked us to both sign the words to the song " God Bless the USA " so we did. We got a standing ovation and a round of hugs from all the veterans in the room, young and old.

The love of this country was so strong in that room - never experienced it before.

We were guests of a 2 purple heart recipient US Army Vietnam Veteran and a US Navy Officer D-Day veteran that is 93 years old.

I understand that, but they should at least have officers that were involved or representatives there. I'm not talking every man or woman on the force, but the departments can spare a few. They deserve the acknowledgement and respect.

And thank you.
