Have any of you used (or are familiar with) rechargeable hearing aids? How do they differ from analog and digital hearing aids? Does the difference lie in the power source (i.e. rechargeable batteries or sun exposure as opposed to disposeable batteries)? I didn't even know there was such a thing until I saw a message on another forum. Just goes to show you learn something new every day! :)

i had one some years ago and worked pretty fine for me

the difference is only the power source

Mark,

Interesting! :) Did your HAs use rechargeable batteries? The reason I ask is because from what I've read, some rechargeable HAs use solar power.

A VERY interesting topic!! I have been a hearing aid user all my life and I haven't heard of any rechargeable hearing aids. If I had known there were any like that, I probably would have preferred that! haha Only because I use up my batteries pretty quickly on some days. It might be something new....I just might see if it comes up somewhere on the internet. On second thought, I am real good friends with an audiologist I have known for years and maybe she will know something. If I find out anything, I will let you know. :)

Blazing Sunset,

I've worn HAs for over 20 years and also would have considered using rechargeable HAs if they had been available.

You can find out more about rechargeable HAs by doing a Google search for "rechargeable hearing aids."

If you do find out more from the audi you mentioned, please share whatever information she can give you. This would be wonderful information to share with my friends who use HAs. :)

I think a lot of people would have considered using rechargeable HAs. I will definitely let you know when I hear from my Audi! :)

The only major manufacturer that offers a rechargeable hearing aid is GN Resound. The Pulse, which is an open fit hearing aid (mainly fit on those with a predominate high frequency hearing loss). It is fairly new and gives you 20 hrs of usage out of one charge, it can also accomidate a normal hearing aid battery if you get in a pinch. Should be around for awhile, despite Phonak buying GN Resound.

Yes, that's the HA I was reading about on another forum. Is the Pulse available in ITE, CIC and BTE?
