I just finished reading "Rebuilt" by Micheal Chorost, it was a very interesting read.
 
Did you accept his thinking about "cyborgs" and the "change in him brought on by the processor"? I don't think that there is such a change in your thinking because of the Cochlear Implant. Like you I still found the book very interesting.
Another book Beverly Biderman's Wired for Sound-a journey into hearing. worth reading also.
 
The subtitle of Rebuilt is: "How becoming - Part computer- Made me more human' The book is published by Houghton Mifflin Boston/New York-2005, 232 pages. He has a Advanced Bionics Clarion-Cochlear Implant.
