One of my dogs sleeps clutching stuffed animals all the time. One of my cats, Millie, used to too.

My older cat carries one of two stuffed toys around calling for kittens (she never had kittens). The one toy was one that my sister-in-law had for her and gave to us when she gave us the kitten. I think she sleeps with it some times, but I don't recall seeing her hug it.
