The thylacine, more commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger, was the largest marsupial carnivore to ever walk the Earth. It is believed that this creature went extinct in 1936.
It is one of the approximately 795 extinct species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List. Since 1963, the list has been tracking the planet’s biodiversity.
