Actually, It'd be better if I pasted the conversation. The person doesn't frenquent this forum so I don't see how it would matter whether I did or didnt.

Then she blocks me before that last message goes through.

Do note that it isn't the Lucia that frenquents this forum she's talking about, but someone who I used to consider a "friend". Basically you have it. I wish people like this got ran over by a greyhound, or at least had to walk 20 miles in my shoes. I'm pretty sure that would humble them.

Whew, I was like WTF for a second, then realized it was a different Lucia.

This person is obviously stupid.

This moron says deaf people sound like retards because of the way they talk? What about sounding like a retard because of your stupid opinions? What a loser!

The sucky part was I wanted to rekindle friendships with people I knew, then I was reminded why I cut them off, most of them anyway. I never did anything to her oddly enough, she's just one of those types of people who seems to think it's hilarious to pick on people if they aren't 'perfect' like her (Which I doubt she is, probably has a glass personality. After all she did lie in the past saying she was a lawyer and 20-odd something). I don't think anything in the world can piss me off more than sheer arrogance combined with extreme stupidity. Someone needs to feed her a heapin' helpin' of humble pie with a damn snow plow.

Tell her to register for AD and maybe she will learn a thing or two?

If she doesn't learn a thing or two at this site, who need hearies like this one for a friend?

Of COURSE, you sound funny as you're not hearing. Some idiots just don't understand this! DUH!

Haha, she'd probably just become a troll. She has me blocked so I decided to return the gesture and delete her as well. People like her don't seem to ever change- it's been 7 years and she's still the same.

While it's arguable that I do have a slight accent and tendacy to mispronounce things, I actually do consider myself to speak quite clearly to the point people don't even realize I'm deaf and I have to give an awkawrd chuckle and explain to them I have no clue what they're saying. Which brings me to another point of being deaf, alot of times theit attitude completely changes after I mention this.

EX- a new years party last month I was at the pool table at my uncles pirvate bar playing pool with a friend of my dads, after the game was over other people wanted to play so it was 2 on 2 teams, I got paired up with this dude I don't even know and he starts talking to me and gesturing at the table as if I was some normal person, a nice feeling. I just laugh and nod for awhile but as he talks more, I explain to him I can't hear then he asks me "But, you can understand me right?" which took me awhile to catch on because i'm not an expert at lip reading but fairly decent. I tell him barely, then after that he just gets uncomfortable and doesn't talk, turns his attention away and talks to other people.

Awhile into the game I comment on the music, that it's quite loud. Thankfully he seemed to understand how I'm able to realize musics playing and gestures on his chest and says "you feel it?" I'm like yeah. That's about it. It sucks being exluded from social conversations. I don't blame him, but it doesn't feel too great when you can't talk to people because A. They don't want or know how to actually put an effort out to converse with you. B. They view you as a freak. C. They consider you dumb<- the last one i hate so much...

If people could just give me a chance I'd prove that I'm a pretty interesting person but I shouldn't have to prove that. It's not exactly fair how people label others off the bat and simply exlude them based on solely an assumption. I hate it when others do this to people as well and I try to avoid giving people a label unless I know them and how they are, that chick? I know she's a bitch :).

The people who dont give us a 2nd thought just because they feel that we are not worthy of their time due to our deafness or hearing loss are the ones who lose out. They could learn a lot from us. :dunno:

There are those people out there who have self esteem that is so low that the only way they know to make themselves feel like better people is to make someone else feel less than. It really is a shame, and there is no excuse for the way they hurt and humiliate others. Still, you have to feel some pity for someone who feels so bad about themselves and has so few coping skills that this is the only way they have to help themselves, or to feel like they are important and valuable as human beings.

This girl, from your description, obviously is looking to the outside to try to find her value in life. But lies, deception, and bullying is not the way to do it. You are better off without her as a part of your circle of friends.

Very true!

Very well spoken jillio.

I know we have all been through something like this at one time or another. You handled the situation like a real adult. You seem like a really good person and did not deserve that treatment.
I remember I was in WalMart with my sister and we were on 2 different register lines. The line I was on had a guy talking to the checkout girl for a long time, both of them totally ignoring me. I was getting frustrated and turned to my sister to come to my line because I couldn't hear what they were saying. Turns out my sister comes over and hears them calling me a bitch and how they made me wait on purpose. My sister looked at them and said "she's deaf". The checker turned bright red, but was still rude to me...I was almost in tears! My sister told the checker to bag everything over and double bag my purchase because she did it wrong and made them too heavy. The checker got mad and embarrassed, so my sister looked at her and said, "how does it feel" and 'have a nice day". I just stood there because I didn't know what was going on until after... thus people think we are stupid. Sometimes you must handle things differently to make people realize how totally cruel they are. I am sure that girl will remember that day as "the day I dissed the deaffie girl".

I think so too.

We're all better off without her at AllDeaf. I have the feeling she'd be a troll here.

And we'd all be better off not wasting our time on people like them. I can understand Dark-Half's situation as I am h/h and my speech is pretty good but not perfect. So I find myself in a lot of the same situations that he describes and have to deal with ignorant hearing people, too. So we can only try to make the best of any situation and educate those who are not up to date on hearing loss and how it affects us.
