I wonder why sign for r and x is not other way around? R sign look like x, x sign look like r.

After deep contemplation and strained hand.... I think it's just like typewriter concept. It's QWERTY instead of ABC's because QWERTY is faster to type.

So I'm thinking the sign "R" is the way it is because since the letter "R" is much more common than letter "X"... it would make sense to have a sign to be more fluidic and easier to flow to next letter.

The part I left in the quote above is the only part that i know anything about.

But. . . the QWERTY keyboard comes from the very early manual typewriter days and was developed to slow down typing to prevent the key clashes that were occurring when one would not return from striking the paper before another was going up and hit the first.
