Hi again, everyone. I am so sorry to have to post more questions concerning C.I.'s and music. My science teacher (whom is on a college level and I am only in 7th grade) wants my questionnaire to also have a True/False type section so I can have quantative data and make a chart. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AGAIN!!! THIS WILL BE THE BEST PROJECT EVER! AND I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHAT MY GRADE TURNS OUT TO BE!:ty:

Quick Questions:

1. What is your first name?

I know it is so hard to answer the following questions without more explanation and what I love the most is hearing about the personal side of the below answers plus there seems to be such a large scale or degree of difference that needs explanation; but the following should only be TRUE/FALSE please :eek3: and I thank you for this!

2. Since receiving my cochlear implants people's voices sound:
a. computerized?
b. computerized at first but now better?
c. not computerized at all?

3. I listen to music:
a. weekly?
b. daily?
c. randomly?

4. Would you say music is:
a. a big part of your life?
b. something that I sometimes enjoy?
c. don't take much time to listen to music?

5. On a scale of 1 through 10 with 10 being VERY crisp and clear and 1 being very flat, and/or distorted, please answer how the following sounds to you:
a. the musical instruments within the music?
b. the melodies within the music?
c. the artist's voice(s) within the music?

6. Which of these musical genre sound better to you?
a. classical?
b. pop?
c. hard rock?
d. rap?
e. jazz?

7. Would you say being able to listen to music changed your life
a. somewhat?
b. incredibly so?
c. not at all

...if you can think of any other T/F type questions, just let me know.
THANK YOU guys, sooooo much!!! This site is just wonderful!

I wish you best of luck! It sounds like you're focusing on CI's and music. I can tell you that when I had one CI, music sounded great, but it was a whole lot better when I had two. You can try it yourself. Put one earbud in one ear (not your dominant ear). Does it feel like you're missing sounds out of your other ear when you're hearing it? That's exactly how I felt when I listened to music out of one ear. After I had the second surgery, I can hear music out of both, and it's a huge improvement because my right ear was the dominant ear.

**Please find my answers in bold**

Quick Questions:

2. Since receiving your cochlear implants do people's voices sound:
a. computerized? False. In my case, voices sounded metallic.
b. computerized at first but now better? N/A
c. not computerized at all? N/A

3. Do you listen to music:
a. weekly? False
b. daily? True
c. randomly? False

4. Would you say music is:
a. a big part of your life? True
b. something that I sometimes enjoy? False
c. don't take much time to listen to music? False

6. True or False, can the computerized sounds you experienced once your C.I.'s were surgically installed, evidentially turn to a more natural sound?

As I mentioned above, sounds and voices were metallic in the beginning, but eventually began to sound more natural. At the present time, voices and sounds are exactly as I remember with hearing aids -- only clearer.

7. How did you overcome (if you have) the mechanically, computerized type of hearing that you first had with your C.I.'s (pertaining to listening to music).

a. classical? True
b. pop? True
c. hard rock? False. I can't stand the sound of hard rock with my CIs.
d. rap? "old school" rap (pre-1990s) sounds much better to me than today's rap.
e. jazz? True

10. Would you say being able to listen to music changed your life
a. somewhat?
b. incredibly so? True
c. not at all

I would suggest that you use the words "metallic," "raspy" and "echoey" in addition to "computerized" in your questions to describe the initial sound of the CI. Good luck on your project! :)
