Sign Language interpreter...

Id like to know what is your job description that is included the proof read for any one who have limited english?

I never knew about it. My friend tends to ask the ASL interpreter to read this person's report to make sure if interpreter understands then anyone would understand.

I told this person that I have never heard of having ASL interpreter to proof reading anyones report or notice or whatever..

I ask this person to check the job description if it is included or not.

Proof reading is NOT part of the interpreter's job.

That's what I am thinking the same thing. I asked this person to give me the job description what interpreter does for this person at work.

The only exception I can think of is in an educational setting where the school interpreter is also sometimes the Deaf Education resource teacher.

True Reba.
In that setting I tend to think of them as "educational assistants/support staff who are also interpreters" versus "Interpreters" (like we'd think of in the traditional sense)

Are they both employees of the same company? Possibly then, the terp is a staff interpreter, and then that the job description includes such collateral duties. When someone is hired as a staff terp, that job can include extra duties to keep the terp busy when not interpreting.

Normally, that would not be an interpreter's function.

Yeah that would make sense that this interpreter is a staff terp at that job where Deaf person work there. Terp does have other duties as well. I asked this person to show me the job description. If so. Cool.

Thank you for your time to reply..
