Hi! I’m a hearing college student taking a class called Deafness and Education. We have learned a lot about the debates and controversies in the deaf world today. For my final project I am relating these issues in the deaf world specifically to deaf teenagers and the choices they must face when dealing with these issues. I am specifically doing research about mainstreaming deaf students, deaf teenagers having deaf or hearing friends and the controversy of using ASL or the oral/aural approaches. How are these issues affecting you as a deaf teenager or young adult? Did your parents have to make decisions for you when you were younger about any of these issues and if they did how do you feel about that decision now? These debates seem to be very deep and controversial in the deaf world. How do they affect your every day life? My email is langha_m@denison.edu. I would appreciate anything you have to say. Thanks! Margaret
