Hi and welcome, Adamsmomma

thought it is required I start new one - I've THINK <very sorry I wrong!> I read in your posts here and there mention of another child who may have LD.......that's why I started new thread as I am an adult with LD who can direct you to LD sites if you ever interested or want info. Now I know that's NOT why you came to AD and I don't mean to be intrusive or out of place, just wanted to help....I'm fairly new here too. I came to learn to communicate better with Deaf people around me where I am and to understand Deaf culture better. Am taking ASL with friend Deaf. Husband hoh.

Actually Dogmom, it's not another child but Adam that is at risk for LD as he ages-- due to a virus his birth mother had when she was pregnant with him... he has some differences in his brain ( I hate the word brain damage-- he's not damaged, he's just different) his doctors have said it's not a 'for sure thing' that he'll be LD but it's likely-- and they said it maybe only one subject like English or Math etc...

I am open to ALL information-- especially since I don't know what the future holds for him... so any other sites you have would be GREAT!!! I'm trying to learn all I can right now so I'm prepared down the line!!

THANK YOU for offering to help us!!! :ty:

okay, u welcome :D, and sorry to have been confused -

details if helpful:
if interested, u can sometime check out: dyscalulia.org, an international forum for people with specifically math and math-related LD, which is what I have. Text-based skills I do well <reading, humanities, social studies, that kinda thing>. I was born premature w/speech and language disabilities for which I later had speech therapy for many years - pull-out Ex. Ed. Did not learn to count money or tell time til high school, learned to drive as requirement for post-college social services job working with people with mental retardation, which required Home Visits.

You can also check out: National Center for LD, Association of Children and Adults with LD <chapters> and CHAAD <Children and Adults with Hyperactivity/Attention Deficit Disorder - often folks with LD have that as well, although I don't happen to. CHAAD has active support groups where I am.>

Best Wishes!

and I like pic. of him w/blue ha's too! :D

THIS IS AWESOME information... They almost tested me in college for a math related LD (decided not to take anymore courses instead)... I just don't get it!! Lucky for me my brother who can't read well does math great- so he always worked w/me and taught me ... that would be helpful for me NOW!!

And the other one I'll check out as well!! I love getting more info!!

Of course I'm praying that Adam won't have to struggle with either text based or math LD's but if he does-- I want to know where to turn before I hit a wall! LOL

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
